The Orchard
You will learn about seeding, tillage, irrigation and harvesting seasonal crops, with a direct participation in the process.
The children’s will spend a day in an entertaining program performing field work and learning about of plants.
Special importance will be given to the irrigation system we inherited from the times of Al-Andalus. With the recreation of a canal with its corresponding vegetation: lilies, reeds, reed etc., also the traditional irrigation system “manta” will be explained.
In one of the exhibition halls we will have a model of the eight canals that make up the irrigation system of the “Vega of Valencia” and form the “Tribunal de las Aguas”. The history and importance of this “Tribual de las Aguas” was declared a World Heritage by the Unesco.
We dedicate a special section for typical crop in the area: THE “CHUFA”.
Participants will work the “chufa” dried in the “cambra”: remove, select … We also have the option to do other workshops:
At the end of the stay in Planta I Cull children’s will leave with handmade crafts and a bag with vegetables they have collected themselves.
